Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior official said the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
